BoJack Horseman 1×05 Review

In the fifth episode of BoJack Horseman season one, Diane visits her family.

“The only thing to do now is to keep moving forward.” – BoJack

This is the nicest BoJack has ever been so far. I don’t know how to feel about that, because this entire episode I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop like it did last episode. But it never did and I’m surprisingly okay with that.

Maybe BoJack’s just a dick to people he feels had a better life than him, or he just hasn’t known Diane long enough to screw her over yet.

Although, to be fair, it’d be a pretty dick move, even for BoJack, to kick Diane when she was down towards the end of this episode. She’d been kicked enough, in my opinion. Her family’s garbage. There is literally not a single redeeming quality about any of them and I don’t blame Diane for never coming back. This is not The Worst family to have but it’s no where near a good one either.

Also, what’s wrong with living rent-free at your beyond-wealthy significant other’s place? I assume she contributes to groceries or something.

Also, also, I refuse to believe that anyone in that house aside from the black sheep (nice joke) and that one brother who wasn’t rewatching an old world series game on end has a job.

BoJack says it better than I regarding Diane needing to just leave her family behind, completely and utterly. She came back, tried to play nice with her trash family, and it backfired horribly.

I understand her desire for praise and recognition from her family because they’re her family. They’re the people she’s known all her life and just up and dropping them like a diseased rat is hard. But at some point, you probably should realize that your garbage family is never going to treat you well and start distancing yourself from them.

You should also never involve Princess Carolyn in anything, as Todd has found out this episode. This episode has also made me realize why Princess Carolyn is still around. She’s kind of as bad as BoJack in some ways and if BoJack can’t make something worse then she certainly can, provided the victim is very gullible and doesn’t ask too many questions.

Meanwhile, I learned that unknown numbers could possibly be important — not blackmail important, just keep ignoring those, but someone calling from a bad place kind of important. I’m still not answering them until you leave a message, but I will acknowledge their potential importance.

Keep up the animal jokes!
